| The great passions of Angus Oborn’s life are his family, photography, food, and his bike. Depending on the day they may not necessarily be in that order. A warm and windless morning holds the promise of an epic spin up the Hudson. Being woken at 2 a.m. by your two year old doesn't always endear the child. Both haute and humble cuisine can rival even the most cherished partner as the love of one's life (if only for an evening). But we digress. From the age of 11, after Angus was able to use his father’s camera for the first time, he wanted to be a photographer. He wanted to shoot so much that he ignored everyone's warnings and studied it at University, earning a B.A. in Photography at RMIT (Melbourne, Australia). This led him from Melbourne through the Australian Outback to the world. Finally, as a young lad of 25, he landed in New York. It was here that family took top billing as he wooed and wed his future wife, and where he and his wife and young daughter now make their home. Since coming to America, Angus has worked on everything from food, travel and corporate to advertising. His work has been featured in books, magazines and album art, and is held in public and private collections.Angus has described his photography as “his magic carpet” and the way he gets to witness “cool stuff around the world.” Colleagues, collaborators and clients praise Angus' work. He is adept at finding beauty in unlikely places, even while poking fun at the ironies and inconsistencies of our daily lives. |
